Sunscreen Woes

It's what I hate most about summer: having to shower two or three times a day to get rid of the stinky, smelly sweat and sunscreen combo. I hate how sunscreen attracts dirt so that it looks like you don't shower at all. My back and shoulders break out. Arrrgh.

Help a girl out. Have you found a good spray on brand (the boy isn't always around to get my back) that works?

I Heart My Bike

Thanks Amber and Cowgirl Warrior--two different ways to get Mr. Garmin to know I'm biking and they both work!

Headed out this morning:
26.26 km
999 calories

The sun was shining and there was even a little breeze down by the reservoir. Best of all, I made it up the big-ass hill at Sandy Beach without stopping! On Saturday I only made it half way. I'm incredibly proud of myself--there was NO walking up any of the hills on my route today!

Now I gotta shower--I'm more than a little stinky!

Sunday Run in the Sun

What a glorious, sunny day in Calgary!!

I headed out for my 6K run:
477 cal

Everyone on the pathway was in a chipper mood, too!

I'm off to work but am hoping to go for a bike ride when I get home. I love the long days! Does anyone know how to tell my Garmin when I'm running vs biking? Or am I going to have to bust out a manual?

As if I didn't already know...

but I'm a morning exercise person. Running after a day at work sucks. Scaling back my mileage has been killing me, especially since I don't get my running groove for at least 5K! This body is built for endurance, not speed.

However, slow and steady (and only 10% increase in mileage/week) will get me across the finish line upright, smiling and most importantly, uninjured.

Registration for non-Hawaii residents should open this weekend!

Pure Comfort

On a rainy day, in front of the fire, cuddling with Nerm, there's nothing else like it:

French bread + honey

The weekend's going to be filled to the brim with yoga! I'm super excited to do a workshop with Noah Maze with my yoga peeps!

Monday Madness

Good morning! I have to get out for a run before the sun disappears and the rain comes back! I'm just waiting for my Garmin to finish recharging (guess who forgot to plug it in until this morning? Darned Nermal....).

Apres run, I'm hopping on a bus to meet my mom and grandparents in Red Deer to check out places there. This isn't exactly how I had planned to spend my vacation.

The weekend was fabulous! Lots of yoga, some biking (my ass hurts), some patio time and sunshine. Thank goodness for sunscreen! This green eyed, pale, pasty girl and sunshine aren't friends without it!

Fabulous news: five of my yoga teacher friends and I are starting a karma yoga class! We're meeting with our teacher/mentor/hero/financial backer tomorrow evening to work out the final details. In a nutshell, we'll alternate teaching, so we all get to practice, plus a great way to keep in touch and cheap yoga classes! It's win-win. When it's all for sure, I'll letchya know the deets.

And now I'd better get some runners on, the clouds are rolling in!

And the sun has made a brief appearance, so I decided to take advantage:
489 cal

AND, I had to tighten my fuel belt. I love that it's getting smaller!

I've got laundry going and now I'm off to pick up some books we ordered at the end of teacher training, pay some bills and maybe a bit of shopping...we'll see. The forecast looks good for the weekend (thank God!) so here's the tentative plan:

- Yoga class Saturday morning
- Bike ride in the afternoon
- Friend’s drumming recital Saturday night
- Yoga class Sunday morning (one of my classmates got a teaching gig already!)
- Run or bike or both
- Nap
- BBQ with my boy
- mojitos on my patio!

Guess I should go put some air in the bike tires, too!
Happy Friday!

Vacation Day 6

Where has the time gone? Oh right!

- Baby shower & Underwear Affair on Saturday
- Garden planting & BBQ with my yogi peeps on Sunday
- Touring seniors residences & Epicure party on Monday
- More touring & surprise visit by brother on Tuesday
- Chillaxing, catching up on Corrie, knitting and hangin' with my bro on Wednesday
- Crawling back into bed with Nerm and good trashy novel after sending bro on his way this morning

Did I mention it's raining? Yeah, so much for lounging on the patio. Oh well! I've got a baby blankie to make and more Corrie to catch up on. Yoga class tonight to work some kinks out. I briefly thought of going for a run, but I'm going to go tomorrow instead.

Happy Thursday

Utterly Knackered!

But still much to do!

So far tonight I have:

- talked with my mom at length. My grandparents have finally agreed to start looking at homes off the farm! They're in relatively good health, but Grandpa's blind and hasn't learned many life/coping skills since losing his sight. He's scared to be at home alone, which leaves Grandma feeling trapped. This is good--we've seen how lonely they've become as their circle of friends has gotten smaller and they don't leave home so much.

- got groceries. There is currently a big vat of veggie s'ghetti sauce simmering. And I'm sipping the lovely vino that I added to the sauce. It's homemade (gasp!). And good (double gasp!)! I won it during Med Lab Week at work for knowing some obscure science fact.

- baked a Guinness chocolate cake. Oh yeah. Waiting for it to cool before I frost it. It's awesome. It's for my yoga teacher, Nora, who's turns 50 today! But I didn't get to see her today, so I'm taking it to our graduation party tomorrow.

- unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. How does one person use so many dishes?! I unloaded S's dishwasher on Sunday morning and wonder what the man eats in my absence.

- I need to do my physio exercises. But this wine is really good!

- I also need to get my ass outside for a run. Did I mention how good this wine is?

- I have stacks of laundry that are calling my name. Even wine can't make me like laundry.

- I need to have an early night. I didn't get to bed till after midnight last night, slept like crap and the alarm went at 0530h. I'm sleepy. The wine helps. =)
