Fun-couver, here I come!!

Hello! I am nowhere near prepared enough for the half on Sunday, but I'm still going to do it. I know that I can. It'll be a good reminder for me: training is essential!

So I must go and pack, but here's a pic that C. took of me and S. this weekend in Canmore. Check out the funky sock monkey hat!

Weekend Recap

I just got home from a lovely weekend in Banff. Good friends, good (relatively) weather, good food, good drinks and great digs made for a FABULOUS time!

Friday:
-stopped for one last bowl of pho. The owners of our fave restaurant are off to Vietnam for a month =(
-bought two new pairs of Birkenstocks
-arrived in Canmore and Carol made yummy pasta dinner and we drank an amazing bottle of red

Saturday:
-arrived at the run to find complete chaos
-I had no direction whatsoever as a volunteer and was quite perturbed to be yelled at by who I think was the race marshall for being where I was told to be. Bah!
-Steve arrived and we headed into town in the midst of a snow storm
-had bevvies and dinner with my old friend Candace and her friend Lisa. They ran the race and it's a good thing I greeted all the finishers with an aromatherapy towel--otherwise we never would have seen each other!
-moved the party back to the condo and watched some Harry Potter

Today:
-walked 6K into town, shopped, had lunch, and walked back
-drove home in yet another blizzard
-cuddling in front of the fire with Nerm

It's all good. Hope you had a good one, too.

Thank God It's Friday!

I think I say that every Friday, but I'm really feeling it today. I'm overtired, cranky and my diet shows it: can we say carbs?!

Alas, I took a little banked overtime to come home and tidy, not to mention pack, for the weekend in Canmore. The forecast isn't good (5-10 cm snow) but we'll still have a good weekend.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

Earth Day

Mother Nature is in a foul mood. It's April 22, for Pete's sake (who is Pete, BTW?)! Snow? You've got to be kidding. But no, it's true. Le sigh (see, I even made it to French class tonight). I. Am. So. Sick. Of. Winter.

Had a great night last night. Put in an hour and a half of over time (cha ching--or in this case banked so that I get more time off) and then had a quick nap. S. and I played a round of mini golf. We stopped keeping score after the second hole--it wasn't pretty. We declared it a tie game in the end! Went out for Vietnamese for dinner-tres yummy.

Heading to Canmore this weekend for some R 'n R. C is running in the Rocky Mountain Soap Company's Women's Run. I didn't get my registration in on time, so I'm volunteering at the aromatherapy wellness station (whatever the heck that is). S. is (hopefully) coming out on Saturday night to join us at the big condo we will call home for three days/two nights.

Don't know much else. Except je suis tres fatiguee. I had an hour and a half nap this afternoon and I can't tell. Two more days. Two more days....

Sunny Sunday

Good morning! The sun is shining and I don't have to work. It's going to be a GREAT day!

I may sneak over to my old place and get my bike...seems like a good day to go for a ride. I also have no desire to run--I've come to the conclusion that I'll be walking the half in Vancouver. I may start out running, but there's no way I'm conditioned to run the whole thing without seriously injuring myself. So I just need to beat my time from 2006: 3:02:22.

I am very excited that Amber and I are going to meet for coffee, though!

Going to J's yoga class at 2 and then having a catch up with her. I don't think I've seen her since Christmas Day and that is far too long! I hate it when I get so busy I don't have time to see my peeps on a regular basis. I think we'll have to reinstate the Sunday night dinner ritual. (We'd go to yoga and then take turns cooking dinner for each other.)

6 am start time all week this week--yikes! I'd also better plan something for lunches or the scale will definitely not be headed in the right direction.

Happy Sunday!

Good thing my head's attached

Or else I might leave it at home, too! Egad, what a day! Walked down to MEC to check things out and wore my Garmin to track things. Took it off while C and I had lunch (fab new restaurant that I will definitely go back to--The Holy Grill). Realized when S. and I arrived at park that Garmin was not in either my purse or bag. Small moment of panic. Phone C--did I leave it in your car? Nope. She swung by the restaurant but it was closed. SHOOOT! So, there goes $300, I'm thinking. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Then S. and I head down to his new hood to check it out (it was a gorgeous day to be outside). Stopped at the little coffee shop along the river (Angel's) and had a cup of chai. Sat and drank and read the paper, then strolled through the park. Got all the way through the park before I realized that I had left my purse in Angel's. Holy Moly Batman, you can't be serious! Thankfully, it was still there when we got there (S. got to see me walking at race pace and had a hard time keeping up, hehehehe). But then really, who would steal something in a place called Angel's?

Got home and had an A-ha! moment. I took my MEC purchases out of my bag before I met S....is it possible?....Yes, yes it is! I found the Garmin! It was rolled up with the new t-shirt I bought. WHEW! I guess I have no excuse not to run tomorrow, do I?

Happy weekend!

Drumming = Very Cool

That is all.
