Monday Run

S. & I headed out to do my regular 4.27K route (through a lovely neighbourhood and around the park). Took us 33:06 with an average speed of 7.7 km/h. Not bad. Average heart rate was 88% of my max. I thought there were cement blocks attached to my feet for the first 2.5K, but then I found my groove.

What do you afternoon runners eat for a snack (and when) before you run/workout? I'm a morning girl and have yet to figure out the fuel for the afternoon. Help a girl out!

It depends how long after lunch I go. If its at like 4ish I will usually have a larabar or some sort of granola bar about 1/2 hour before running. Sometimes only half a bar depending on how hungry I am!

I'm a noon runner, although I do go running with H. in the mornings too. For noon though, I find a bowl of oatmeal (1/2 c oats, 1 c milk, 1/8 c craisons & 1 tbsp almond slices or butter) good fuel to go. Or oats & bran in yogurt with chopped fruit works well too. I tend to eat about 2 hours before I head out, so it has time to settle and fuel the jets.

That's just me...

Almond butter on brown bread before a run. Nothing before a short run because it makes me feel queasy.

After a run I'll eat a regular meal. Because I run before breakfast usually, it's oatmeal and cottage cheese.
